Saskatoon Circle Primitive Skills Gathering held in the North Cascades Wildlands at Skalitude Retreat Center Thursday September 24th thru Sunday September 27th.

Saskatoon Circle is a gathering teaching and promoting primitive skills and ancient crafts in a community environment. Camping is available starting Wednesday night, September 23rd, and we will do a potluck meal and opening circle that evening. Classes will begin on Thursday, and run thru Sunday morning. We will have a closing circle on Sunday. The cost for the gathering is $135 per person, and includes camping and seven meals. The meals start with breakfast on Thursday morning, include dinner Thursday thru Saturday, and end with breakfast on Sunday. Participants are responsible for their own lunches and snacks, and are encouraged to bring their own eating utensils, plate and/or bowl. Meals will be mostly organic, local, and wholesome, with an emphasis on including wild foods where possible. There will be a primitive celebration on Saturday night, and participants are encouraged to come with masks and costumes to dance around the communal fire. There may be additional material fees from instructors for some of the classes. Classes being offered so far include moccasin making, hide tanning, fire craft, working with rawhide, working with buckskin, basketry, basic tool skills, wild foods and animal processing, herbs and medicinal plants, mask making, animal tracking, permaculture, and on going conversations about practicing primitive in the modern world. Day rates are available for $45, and there is a discount for registering before September 1st. Space is limited so we are encouraging early registration. We ask that participants come ready to learn, and to be respectful of other participants, the local environment, and other beings. Children are welcome, and there is a discounted rate for youth ages 5-16. Children under five years old are free, and are expected to be with a parent at all times. Saskatoon Circle is held in a wild and primitive space, so attention to ones actions is required. We look forward to sharing these ancient Earth skills with you in a wild setting fostering community spirit.
