Raffle
Every year we have a raffle to create seed money with which to use for each year’s start up and advertising costs for the Congress. For the raffle we have received donations of items that are amazing such as a stay at Skalitude, flower essences, herbal tinctures, books, CD's, gemstones and much more. We encourage participation to the building and sustaining of our Congress. Be sure to purchase raffle tickets at the Fairyphenalia store at the Congress. The raffle sales will benefit future Congress events.
Please let Suki know if you would like to donate something for the raffle. magikdancer@gmail.com
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are not allowed in the main congress area! It's too crowded, and they interfere with service dogs.
Dogs are allowed in the parking lot and in camping areas, but MUST be on a leash AND restrained at all times! If you bring your dog to the Congress, keep in mind that it will have to be tied up for all the time that you are in workshops and participating in other Congress activities. Be sure that your dog can handle being tied up in a strange place before bringing him/her! There is not much shade in the parking lot, so keeping your dog in camp will probably be more comfortable. If your dog barks at people it should be kept away from paths or trails with pedestrian traffic. If a dog barks incessantly such that it annoys and distracts others, you will be asked to move. People with dogs should probably plan on camping towards the fringes of the camping areas, such as at the top of the parking lot, or on the Forest Service road. Dogs MUST be on leash at all times, if there are some dogs on leash and even only one dog off-leash, the dynamics are challenging.
Upper meadow and surrounding hills are off-leash areas. We highly recommend you make time to take your dogs out exploring during your stay!
I am mobility challenged. Can I come?
We attempt to make our gathering as accessible as possible to everyone - including alter-abled attendees. Please note that we are located in a meadow that is not easily negotiated for those with some walking disabilities. Distances between workshop areas, camping, and eating areas are spread out over the site. Please inquire with us directly before reserving your space so we can be certain we can accommodate your personal needs.
I'm allergic to grass!
If you have allergies to grass pollen and dust, bring your allergy medications and homeopathics! There is grass in the meadow and with this many people frolicking around, dust and pollen gets kicked up.
Wild animals?
Skalitude is a 160 acre area surrounded by national forest on 4 sides. There's lots of room to roam. On a rare occasion people might see a wolf, cougar, rattlesnake or bear. With this many people at the Congress, chances of this happening are very very slim.
Register on-line?
All your registration questions can be answered here!
How are dishes handles at the Congress?
We have a dish washing crew. We have plates, bowls and utensils enough for everybody!
Volunteer Commitment?
As part of your tuition, all citizens of the Congress commit to Fairy Service twice for one hour a day. Because all citizens of the Congress assist with the responsibilities of the community, we keep tuition costs low, and working together builds a stronger community. When you arrive at the Congress and complete registration, you will pull from a fish bowl of possible opportunities to discover your fairy service duties. You may be washing dishes at lunch on Saturday or helping with clean up after dinner on Sunday.
Are showers available?
There are 2 outdoor showers with on-demand water heater and solar heated hoses!
I am curious why your presenters are so homogeneously Caucasian?
GREAT QUESTION!!! Other than for a couple of Native Americans, we are mostly Caucasian. We welcome people from all backgrounds. In the past, we have had 2 Native presenters bow out in the last minute due to tribal responsibilities. We have also encountered the issue of Native American presenters not wanting to be listed on the website due to tribal politics. This year we do have someone who is representing a Hawai'ian perspective on the devic world.
Our main focus has been to get a diversity from perspectives, so we have had presenters from the Celtic Fairy tradition, shamanic tradition, herbalism, flower essence practitioners, Druids, Theosophy, people following the pathways of Perelandra and Findhorn, geomancy, earth healing, animal and plant communication, faery doctoring....and for the most part these people are Caucasian. And our geography: Methow Valley is 99% white.
Working with the little people and working with the intelligences of Nature is obviously in all our ancestral lineages. If you know of any non-Caucasians who you think would have a good perspective on co-creating with nature, please let us know! Even all the Voudon practitioners I know of are white! I've been wanting to get someone who is merged with the Kontumble from Malidome Some's tradition, and they're all Caucasian. We would love a more cross-cultural representation! - Jan
I'm too old, I'm not Celtic enough, I'm too flamboyant, I'm a dude and I wear jeans, I'm not white, I'm transgendered, I'm (fill in the blank)
We love you. We'd love to have you join us.
